Basilippo means “village of the forest of the moon”, it is believed that this Tartessian city (Bronze Age, 10th to 6th centuries B.C.) was located between the towns of El Viso del Alcor and Carmona in the province of Seville. The Tartessians had an intense relationship with the Acebuche (wild olive tree) for the multiple benefits of its fruit, the olive.

Several millennia later, the agricultural wisdom of the first Andalusian olive growers is still alive in the production of Basilippo, a blend of ancestral culture and the most modern production and marketing systems.

The culture of the olive tree and oil is present in Basilippo from its name and philosophy to the logo that characterizes it, the silhouette of a panathenaic amphora. These vessels, of great artistic value, were used to reward the winners of the Panathenaic Games (precursors of the Olympic Games) that were held in Greece in honor of the Goddess Athena. Amphorae filled with oil from sacred olive trees symbolized the most valuable gift that could be offered.

HACIENDA MERRHA is, without a doubt, the heart of Basilippo. Located in the privileged countryside of Los Alcores in the province of Seville, between the towns of Carmona and El Viso del Alcor.

Its 20 hectares of excellent land and each of its 5,902 Arbequina olive trees give their best every day so that we can extract the best possible olive juice from their fruit.

From the care of the olive grove to the commercialization, including the production of olive juice, our family unites tradition and modernity seeking the highest quality and excellence in all its products and services.
