Corpus Christi Convent Cultural Center

Descripción

The former cloister of the Convento de los Mercedarios Descalzos del Corpus Christi (17th century) was restored and inaugurated in 2011 as the current Centro Cultural Convento del Corpus Christi. Popularly known as “Convent 8”, it is a space where exhibitions, conferences and recreational-cultural events are held on an ongoing basis.

Inside, its beautiful cloister, its dome and the interesting artistic works on display stand out, together with a small archaeological collection -rests of a Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman city- found between La Tablada Baja and La Alta (plateau located behind the fairgrounds) that belong to an archaeological site of the first order.

This site is located at the southern end of the town, 174 meters above sea level, in the geodesic vertex that crowns its name, occupying a plateau that is located south of the town and the current fairgrounds.
