The cult to the Astro Rey (Fuente del Sol) and to the Moon (Fuente de la Alunada or Luná) in El Viso del Alcor has remote roots, but still survived barely not long ago, as represented by the fact that “in 1925 the peasants of El Viso del Alcor (Seville) still prayed to the Moon:
“New Moon,
welcome you.
Beautiful moon,
how your face grows
let your purse grow”.

Popular Andalusian Superstitions)
The ancient worship in this place can be deduced from the votive offerings (offerings made to the divinity as a consequence of a promise or vow) that have been found, according to oral testimonies, in the vicinity of this fountain.
It is a fountain located on the outskirts of El Viso, very close to the road or path that led to Carmona and on the right side of the road from the Alcor down to the Vega looking for the Moscoso stream.
At the same time, two important springs would spring up in the Alunada: the Moscoso spring (with its very large watering trough), and the Alunada spring itself. The Alunada fountain, with a low flow, but with excellent water quality and which reported, according to Madoz, excellent results for those suffering from dropsy (hydrops, i.e., water retention).
This is a natural source or spring that has been used since ancient times, with its first documentary references appearing in the Municipal Ordinances of 161
Currently, the spring has a meager flow, remaining hidden behind the farmhouse of the Alunada estate.
*It is located on a private estate and cannot be visited.
