The former cloister of the Convento de los Mercedarios Descalzos del Corpus Christi (17th century) was restored and inaugurated in 2011 as the current Centro Cultural Convento del Corpus Christi. Popularly known as “Convent 8”, it is a space where exhibitions, conferences and recreational-cultural events are held on a regular basis.
Its interior features a beautiful cloister, a dome and interesting artistic works on display, together with a small archaeological collection – remains of a Phoenician, Carthaginian and Roman city – found between La Tablada Baja and La Alta (a plateau behind the fairgrounds) that belong to a major archaeological site.
This site is located at the southern end of the town, 174 meters above sea level, in the geodesic vertex that crowns its name, occupying a plateau that is located south of the town and the current fairgrounds.
