The Chapel of the Rosary is a construction of the twentieth century, from the late twenties. It is located in what was known as the “bird house”, where grain was stored.
Located in the central Rosario Street, it houses the Brotherhood of the Vera-Cruz, whose titular images, the Christ of the Vera-Cruz and the Virgin of the Rosary, occupy the main altar.
This emblematic building is located at the beginning of “Los Cerros” street, or in other words, Rosario street. The main architect to bring this chapel to fruition was the then parish priest Primitivo Tarancón, who acquired the property and the surrounding area. It was inaugurated on November 21, 1920. Years later, on November 15, 1933, he himself, in the name of the ecclesiastical jurisdiction, registered the estate.
But what was in that place? There, it seems that a grain warehouse was located there, and the place was known as the “house of the Birds. And why a chapel there? It seems that it was in a nearby place, where a local resident, known as “el Lati”, had a very special apparition, that of the Virgin. Another version, as stated by the Brotherhood of Vera Cruz y Rosario itself, is that the parish priest built this chapel in thanksgiving for his appointment as such, replacing his uncle Juan Tarancon, and for his great devotion to the Virgin of the Rosary.
